...iconography remains my bliss and grace from our Lord... "

I was introduced to the gift of Iconography in 2012, after meeting an iconographer. A fire was born within me, and I immediately wanted to know more about iconography, its meaning and techniques. I started working on my own, sketching and colouring icons on cardboard. In 2013, I went to Greece where I visited a Monastery in Chania, Crete. I learned many techniques from the sisters in the community and studied the theological meaning of the icon. Up until 2019, I went to Greece yearly, taking intensive courses to further develop my skills and learn new techniques.

After meeting the sisters, I worked on icons daily, largely learning from YouTube tutorials. Then, in 2019, I quit my bank job and returned to Greece where I worked with an iconographer for 3 weeks on the Church of St Nicholas, Chania. I returned to complete this project in 2021. After returning home to Lebanon, I focused completely on my iconography work - writing different icons and teaching students.

Unfortunately, writing icons does not provide a living by itself. Therefore, I am looking for another job that I can run in parallel with my iconography work. However, iconography remains my bliss and grace from our Lord, who was very generous with me by giving me such a priceless gift. I hope and pray to serve God with this gift to beautify His church, and help believers come closer to God through my icons.
