The preacher wears a long coat. Behind the boy is a couple, presumably the boy's parents. The man wears a long coat, a waistcoat and holds his hat in his hand. The woman wears a bonnet, shawl and skirt. Behind the 4 main figures, workers are seen, one of whom has a wheelbarrow. In the distance are hills. Above the photograph \"Wonderful walker\" is handwritten. Below the photograph \"God be gracious unto thee, my son!\" is printed.
